During his initial “America’s Got Talent” audition, magician Kevin Blake did not impress the judges with his rapping skills. That’s why he proudly told Simon Cowell during Tuesday’s Judge Cuts episode that “I took your advice to heart. I trashed the rap.” He then asked Mel B to join him outside where he attached her diamond ring to some balloons and let it float up into the sky. Of course, he later revealed that her ring had in fact been inside a locked box on the judges’ table the whole time. Watch the “Americas Got Talent” performance video above and then read the judges’ comments below.
Howie Mandel: “I love that you’re original. Originality aces almost anything on this show.”
Simon Cowell: “I think today you were better than you were the first time. Well done, Kevin.”
Ken Jeong: “It is just a hard apples and oranges competition.”
Despite the accolades, in the end the judges decided not to advance Kevin to the live shows, thereby ending his “AGT” journey. Do YOU think Kevin was robbed? Let us know down in the comments section.
During his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty wrote, “Kevin Blake was up next with his magic act that failed to win Simon over completely in the first round. Tonight he used Mel as his assistant, taking her outside and asking her to to put one of her diamond rings in a ring box and then attach it with ribbon to a set of balloons. Kevin let the balloons go and they flew into the sky. Back inside they returned to the judges’ table where he had Simon open a wrapped gift that was a box with Mel’s ring inside! Howie called the act original and Simon said it was an improvement on his initial audition.”
