The third and final quarterfinal for season 13 of “America’s Got Talent” aired on Tuesday night with a dozen more acts taking to the stage over the course of this two-hour episode. “AGT” viewers voted by the millions overnight for their favorites from quarterfinal 3. The results are to be revealed during a one-hour episode on August 29.
Only seven of the acts will make it through to the semifinals which start next week. The five acts that brought in the most votes will automatically advance to the semis while the bottom four will be eliminated. Host Tyra Banks will reveal the three acts that landed in sixth, seventh and eighth place in the popular vote. They are eligible for the Dunkin’ Save, a live vote to take place during the results show. The biggest vote-getter will earn the sixth slot with the judges then choosing between the other two for the final spot.
These seven acts will join the 14 that were put through to the semifinals from the first two quarterfinals. The Week 1 winners were: Angel City Chorale, Vicki Barbolak, Courtney Hadwin, Junior New System, Shin Lim, Amanda Mena and We Three. The Week 2 winners were: Samuel J. Comroe, Da Republik, Duo Transcend, Glennis Grace, Noah Guthrie, Makayla Phillips and Voices of Hope.
So which acts earned enough votes to continue on in the competition? Below is our recap of the live results show. Who are you rooting for and who would you be happy to see sent on their way? Be sure to sound off in the comments about the night’s most shocking snubs.
8:03 p.m. – During the recap of last night’s show we got a glimpse of a few secrets–Simon Cowell almost hit his red X during the UDI Dance performance and Mel B legitimately didn’t know that Hans was performing one of The Spice Girls‘ biggest hits. So funny!
8:10 p.m. – The first bit of news of the night came in the form of the reveal of the three acts that polled 6th, 7th and 8th in the audience vote. They were: Aaron Crow, Daniel Emmet and The Future Kingz, one of which will earn the Dunkin’ Save, one will be the judges’ save and the last will be eliminated.
8:15 p.m. – After one commercial break, Daniel Emmet took an early lead in the Dunkin’ Save voting with 45% of the live vote. The Future Kingz followed in second place with 33% while Aaron Crow fell to last with only 22%. I have a feeling these results won’t change much and may even reflect how the judges decide once it’s their turn!
8:17 p.m. – Tyra first brought Us the Duo and Hans to the center of the stage to reveal each of their results: Us the Duo advanced and Hans was eliminated. Grrrr! I really thought Hans was going to make it through on entertainment value alone. Even Mel was disappointed to see him eliminated!
8:19 p.m. – The next acts to find out their fate were Joseph O’Brien and Brian King Joseph. Of the two, only violinist Brian advanced, sending singer-songwriter Joseph home. I’m not that surprised by that result and think that it was ultimately the correct one!
8:27 p.m. – Before continuing with the results, we saw a nice montage dedicated to Simon and his receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week. The montage featured clips from Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, former AGT winners, other AGT judges and stars like Camila Cabello and Louis Tomlinson who knew him during their time on “The X Factor.” He really is the best reality judge the ever was, isn’t he?!
8:30 p.m. – Then we were treated to a medley performance by the cast of “Beautiful,” the Carole King musical currently running on Broadway. It made me recall that last night Simon told Christina Wells that after her performance this week that she’s likely to receive calls from Broadway producers wanting to book her for their shows.
8:37 p.m. – With two acts already through to the semis, Tyra brought three more to the stage for their results. Between Rob Lake, Michael Ketterer and Christina Wells, both singers, Michael and Christina, advanced, meaning Rob’s magic act failed to impress voters.
8:41 p.m. – The left two acts, Zurcaroh and UDI Dance, standing with only one spot left in the semis. Out of the two it was golden buzzer earners Zurcaroh that received enough votes! That means the audience felt like Simon did last night and maybe he should have gave them his red X!
8:47 p.m. – At the close of live voting for the Dunkin’ Save, the results matched what they started the night as, meaning that sure enough Daniel Emmet beat out the other two and moves on to the semis! That leaves the judges with the tough decision to picking between Aaron Crow and The Future Kingz for their own save.
8:56 p.m. – After deliberation the judges gave their vote for the save one-by-one: Mel saves Aaron, Heidi saves Aaron, Simon saves The Future Kingz, and Howie saves Aaron which means he goes through and The Future Kingz were eliminated.
Next week – The acts in next week’s Semifinals 1 episode are: Duo Transcend, Makayla Phillips, Shin Lim, Amanda Mena, Samuel J. Comroe, Voices of Hope, Junior New System, Us the Duo, Michael Ketterer and Zurcaroh.
Do you agree with the second set of results? Who did you vote for and who are you most sad to see go? Be sure to make your voice heard in the comments!
