The first quarterfinal for “America’s Got Talent” isn’t till August 14 but we can confirm the name of the act that has been tapped by the producers for the wild card slot. They will join 11 other acts to compete for America’s votes. Only seven of these will move on to the semi-finals based on the results of the popular vote. Read on for the first of our “AGT” spoilers.
The four-person comedy troupe Human Fountains (aka La Fontane Umane) may have repulsed Simon Cowell with their routines, which involve a lot of spitting, but the powers that be want them to be part of the line-up for this first live show of season 13.
When Human Fountains auditioned on the premiere back in May, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel gave them “yes” votes after watching their take on the power ballad “My Heart Will Go On” from “Titanic.” This one-time singing quartet remained silent during the playback of the Oscar-winning tune and punctuated the lyrics with various spit takes. But Cowell was not impressed and explained his decision to hit his X thus: “I don’t know what you lot have been drinking but I just saw four guys spitting on each other and you got a standing ovation. It wasn’t amazing, it was just stupid.”
They got another chance to impress Cowell when they competed on the second Judge Cuts episode in July. They took their act to a whole new level by substituting orange juice and raw eggs for water and then spitting these into each other’s mouths as they told the story of a man waking up to start his day by brushing his teeth, showering and having breakfast.
That proved to be too much for the rest of the panel who opted not to put them through to the live shows. Are you happy that Human Fountains have given another chance to perform on August 14? Sound off in the comments section.
