After three straight Best Comedy Supporting Actor Emmy nominations for “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Andre Braugher missed out last year for the first time. But 61 percent of our readers are saying, “Yas queen!” to our beloved Capt. Holt making an Emmy comeback this year in the wake of the overwhelming support and buzz the series received after Fox canceled it, leading to its pickup by NBC.
During the interminable span when the show was dead (really, it was around 31 hours), fans, famous and non-famous, came out in droves to call for someone to save the show. It led to the birth of a group text between super-fans Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Hamill, Guillermo del Toro, Sean Astin and Seth Meyers. The noise after NBC renewed it was even louder.
Thanks for the wave, @AndySamberg – here's one right back at ya! Btw, @Lin_Manuel named our fanboy group-chat (me, @RealGDT @SeanAstin @sethmeyers) #GuardiansOfThe99. Better than my suggestion: #Benign99ers, don't ya think? #Brooklyn99StrikesBack pic.twitter.com/Wo5yEuaJ55

That kind of support can go a long way in reminding voters that hey, this a good show, or even encourage people who’ve never seen it before to check it out. If it’s good enough for Luke Skywalker, it’s good enough for me, right?
But we have to be realistic here: The show has never done well at the Emmys and Braugher is its best shot at getting a major nomination again. As our user Terrence wrote, “It’s ridiculous that he hasn’t already won for this show.” The two-time Emmy champ is in 16th place in our odds.
Meanwhile, 31 percent of our readers are hedging their bets, believing Braugher could make it back in, but it will be tough. While “Veep” is sitting this year out, Braugher will have to fend off former champ Sean Hayes (“Will & Grace”) and new contenders like “GLOW”’s Marc Maron and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”’s Tony Shalhoub. Only 8 percent of readers think Braugher has absolutely no shot at a nomination.
