Betty Gilpin (‘GLOW’) Emmy episode revealed for Best Comedy Supporting Actress (Exclusive)

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Betty Gilpin is entering the “GLOW” episode “Debbie Does Something” as her Emmy submission for Best Comedy Supporting Actress. This installment streamed June 23, 2017 and was the fifth episode of the first season for the Netflix show.

In this segment, Debbie Eagan (Gilpin) attends her first wrestling match and hooks up with wrestler Steel Horse. She makes a demand to Sam (Marc Maron) that he find her a worthy opponent. As she continues to learn about wrestling, she realizes how much it compares to soap operas. Enjoy our recent video chat with Gilpin discussing this season and her career.

This year marks the first career nomination for Gilpin. For the 2018 ceremony, she is in an overstacked category of eight women, with her other competitors being reigning two-time champ Kate McKinnon (“Saturday Night Live”), previous winners Laurie Metcalf (“Roseanne”) and Megan Mullally (“Will and Grace”), past nominees Alex Borstein (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Aidy Bryant (“Saturday Night Live”) and Leslie Jones (“Saturday Night Live”), plus first-time contender Zazie Beetz (“Atlanta”).
