‘Big Brother’ 20 episode 10 recap: Did Winston Hines or Brett Robinson win the Veto on July 18? [UPDATING LIVE BLOG]

Despite giving it their best effort, bros Winston Hines or Brett Robinson were both nominated for eviction this week by “Big Brother’s” third Head of Household Scottie Salton. Scottie had one-on-ones with all of the houseguests to try to get to the bottom of who voted out his closest ally Steve Arienta back in week one, which resulted in him putting Winston and Brett on the block. The bros were understandably furious, with Brett calling Scottie an “idiot” and Winston threatening to send him home “next week.” Were Winston or Brett able to save themselves during Wednesday’s nail-biting Veto competition?

8:00 p.m. – “Previously, on ‘Big Brother’!” On Sunday’s ninth episode Scottie wasn’t buying what Winston and Brett were selling and nominated the bros for eviction, saying that they had the “strongest relationship” in the house. Elsewhere, Hailegh Broucher received the Crap App punishment that requires her to read from “Hamlet” at spontaneous times and Bayleigh Dayton was named the winner of the final Power App that allows her to steal the power of a future Head of Household at a nomination ceremony. How will all of this play out during tonight’s Veto episode? Let’s find out!

8:05 p.m. – Following the nomination ceremony, Brett runs to the Diary Room and chastises Scottie for being an idiot, certain they will take him down in any competition (even though he beat them both to win HOH this week). Meanwhile, Bayleigh is feeling fantastic after winning the Power App and managing to stay off the block this week. Faysal Shafaat, Rockstar Lantry and Haleigh are celebrating in the pantry, but cautious that the “Bros” will pitch Scottie an enticing offer to save them.

8:10 p.m. – Brett makes it clear to Scottie that the line has been drawn in the sand and he won’t pretend to be friends. Anger aside, he respects him for not backdooring the bros. Winston is more heated than Brett, unleashing his wrath on Scottie telling him “you better hope I go home, because I’m coming after you. You’re gone. Zero questions asked.” End scene!

8:15 p.m. – Winston is thinking beyond the Veto competition, discussing who they should target as a replacement nominee with Rachel Swindler. They decide Kaitlyn Herman would be the best option to send home.

8:16 p.m. – It’s time to pick players for the Veto competition! Scottie drew Tyler Crispen to play. Tyler does not want to win because he will have to show his cards if he is expected to use the Veto. Brett chooses Rachel who is excited to save one of the bros. Winston chose Rockstar, who is not on their side and will likely keep nominations the same.

8:20 p.m. – It’s time to play for the Veto! This ABBA-themed competition is promoting “Mama Mia! Here We Go Again.” The houseguests are informed that there is more at stake than the Veto. The winner will also win a trip for two to the Greek Islands. Brett and Winston agree to take each other if either of them wins. How romantic!

8:25 p.m. – The players must spin around 15 times on a disco ball and then race across the backyard and start stacking champagne glasses. They only have 30 seconds to stack glasses before they must run back to hit a buzzer and take another spin on the disco ball. The first player to complete their tower wins the Veto. Tyler has no interest in winning because he’s playing both sides and doesn’t want to be discovered.

8:30 p.m. – Rockstar is a hot mess. She’s about to vomit from spinning on the disco ball. Meanwhile, Winston has the ballerina technique down and spins like a pro. Unfortunately after he spins, he bulldozes his way through the glasses. On the verge of winning, Brett foolishly loses track of time and is forced to completely start over. At this point it’s a duel between Scottie and Rachel. Apparently the bros shouldn’t have been so cocky. This will be the second time in a row he destroys them. And it’s official! Scottie has won the Power of Veto. It was a humiliating defeat for the bros.

8:37 p.m. – Scottie holds all the power this week and is excited to sit back, relax and watch the “bro-down.” In a whirlwind of frustration, Brett runs into the bedroom to do some push-ups. Sam Bledsoe comes to console him and it hurts her to see him so tore up. She’s considering using her Power App to one of the bros to let them compete for a chance to return to the game. This is a huge decision because if she doesn’t use it, whoever is evicted next week will automatically receive that chance. I hope she takes the shot and uses it. I live for the drama!

8:40 p.m. – Scottie walks in on the bros talking in the pantry. Winston apologizes for blowing up on him earlier. Scottie accepts the apology and then the three of them stand in awkward silence until Scottie leaves. Haleigh has started her punishment and is reciting “Hamlet” to the house. Everyone sits around listening intently like it’s story time at the library. Thankfully Haleigh is a good reader. This could have been much worse for everyone.

8:45 p.m. – Winston approaches Scottie and asks him to meet in the HOH room. Brett joins them. Brett uses his magic charisma to entrance Scottie and pitches him the chance to backdoor Kaitlyn Herman. They try to convince him he would be unscathed because both sides are mad at Kaitlyn. They ensure him it would be a total secret and the three of them could have a hidden alliance and Final Three deal right now. Scottie tells them he will consider their offer and goes to bed. I have to admit, the bros made a decent case but I don’t think Scottie will take that chance.

8:53 p.m. – Kaitlyn’s third eye starts twitching and she has a vision of Brett and Winston gunning for her. She runs up to Scottie’s room to find out if there is any truth to her clairvoyance. She tells FOUTTE about her vision and is shocked when Scottie reveals that it is true. They’re messing with the wrong intuitive bitch! Those were Kaitlyn’s words not mine. Kaitlyn confronts the bros in the kitchen and suddenly it turns into a house meeting. Scottie eggs her on like a weasel, but it’s entertaining to watch. Brett has no problem admitting he told Scottie to send Kaitlyn home, but Winston just stands there clenching his teeth. Drama!

8:59 p.m. It’s time for the Veto meeting! Glistening in sweat, Brett and Winston are opting for a shirtless ceremony following their latest bromantic workout. To plead their case, Winston mumbles something boring before Brett recites an intriguing poem while mocking Kaitlyn. Scottie chooses NOT to use the Power of Veto. Will one of them go home this week? Or will Sam use her Power App to give the evicted houseguest a chance to return to the game? Find out Thursday!
