‘Big Brother’ 20 episode 14 recap: Did the Bonus Life save either Rockstar Lantry or Kaitlyn Herman on July 26? [UPDATING LIVE BLOG]

Sam Bledsoe‘s wildly unpredictable Head of Household reign in the “Big Brother” 20 house this week culminated in both Rockstar Lantry and Kaitlyn Herman being nominated for eviction. So who was evicted live on air and how did the Bonus Life power play out?

SEE ‘Big Brother 20’ Week 4 eviction: Did you want Kaitlyn Herman or Angie “Rockstar” Lantry eliminated from #BB20?

9:00 p.m. – “Previously, on ‘Big Brother’!” On Wednesday’s 13th episode, Faysal Shafaat won the Veto competition and agonized over whom to remove from the block: Kaitlyn or Haleigh Broucher. He ultimately chose Haleigh, so HOH Sam replaced her with Rockstar. Speaking of Sam, she never used her Bonus Life app, so that power now defaults to tonight’s evictee. We’ve been waiting all season for this day and it’s finally here!

9:01 p.m. – The stakes couldn’t be higher for all of Kaitlyn, Rockstar and Sam, but if the evicted houseguest comes back into the house everyone that voted her out will also have a lot to answer for. How crazy would it be if the one that returns becomes the next HOH? I dream of twists that chaotic. Omg drool!

9:04 p.m. – After the Veto Meeting, two relationships are slightly fractured. The first is the friendship between Sam and JC Mounduix, who Sam considered putting on the block as a pawn in order to ensure Kaitlyn’s eviction. The other is between Fessy and Kaitlyn, who is hurt by him lying to her about using the POV to pull her off the block instead of Haleigh. What is so distressing for Kaitlyn is that she believes that she is Sam’s true target and that now she will certainly be evicted by the house. To make matters worse, they’re best friends and Fessy had promised her. From Fessy’s point of view, Kailtyn betrayed him and the alliance when she targeted and had Swaggy C evicted the second week.

9:10 p.m. – One of Kaitlyn’s other allies is Tyler Crispen, who pledges to Fessy that he will be voting to keep her around this week. Tyler knows that he has Kaitlyn in his pocket, having significant influence over her and her votes in all of the previous weeks. Later, Fessy tells Haleigh that he’ll vote the same as her this week, but Haleigh sees Kaitlyn as the bigger threat, especially since she hasn’t been loyal, and wants to evict her over Rockstar. But elsewhere Tyler is counting numbers with Kaitlyn and assures her that she has the votes to stay with or without her former alliance, including Fessy, who he suggests they backdoor next week if one on their side wins HOH. Ooof! Kaitlyn already planning her revenge against her bestie??

9:16 p.m. – For the players voting in tonight’s eviction the decision is dangerous because the evictee could potentially return for vengeance. Tyler, JC, Angela Rummans and Brett Robinson weigh the options, but for them it’s a toss up. On one hand (as JC sees it), Kaitlyn is a tougher competitor in competitions than Rockstar and he’s deadset on voting her out. On the other hand (as the other three see it), Kaitlyn can be persuaded to vote with him whereas Rockstar is firmly planted on the other side of the house.

9:19 p.m. – Kaitlyn is still very upset at Fessy, but as the two rehash the same thing over and over again all I can think about is how lame Fessy is being. It was frustrating enough that he couldn’t be upfront with her before the ceremony, but it’s even worse now that he can’t own up to his decision and speak clearly to her about why he did what he did. If she is voted out and returns he’s going to be in a deep, deep grave.

9:21 p.m. – For Rockstar, the week is tough to navigate because there is so much uncertainty about how her own alliance has voted in the past. In almost every eviction at least one of them has flipped their vote from what they said they’d do, causing the FOUTTE alliance to be blindsided every week. That’s the stage that Rockstar is now on, potentially being lied to by her own allies. She needs six votes to stay, can she get them?

9:23 p.m. – One thing Rockstar attempts is to appeal to Brett, her biggest enemy, by stroking his ego. She thinks that telling him that his move last week was great is what she thinks he’d want to hear in order to keep her. He sees through it, but it does put into his head that he might have pull over her in the future and this might be a good time to pull the trigger on Kaitlyn, calling her a “ticking time bomb.”

9:26 p.m. – In the HOH room, Sam asks Tyler where the vote is going and he admits that he has no clue because the entire house is going back and forth. Sam says that in the event of a tie she’ll vote Kaitlyn out. For Tyler, he’s in a tough spot because if he votes Kaitlyn out and she comes back then she’ll be mad at him. But if he votes for her to stay against the rest of the house then possibly they’ll be mad at him. He’s played really well so far so I trust he will do what’s in his best interest and either way be able to cover it up pretty well.

9:31 p.m. – In their pleas to stay, Rockstar gets emotional and even says she has “big love” for Brett while Kaitlyn keeps it brief by stressing the importance of following intuition and personal truth. In order, the votes to evict are: JC evicts Rockstar, Bayleigh evicts Kaitlyn, Haleigh evicts Kaitlyn, and Fessy evicts Kaitlyn (eek!). The rest of the votes after the commercial!

9:39 p.m. – It’s 3 to 1 Kaitlyn right now. The rest of the votes: Brett evicts Kaitlyn, Tyler evicts Kaitlyn (eek!), Angela evicts Kaitlyn, Kaycee evicts Kaitlyn, Rachel evicts Kaitlyn, and Scottie evicts Kaitlyn. It’s a landslide, but she’ll have a chance to return!

9:42 p.m. – While giving her hugs goodbye, Julie chimes in to explain the Bonus Life app and that it is triggered in her favor tonight for a chance to return to the game. She must compete in a live challenge right now for her opportunity to stay in the game–she goes upstairs to the BB App Store room to compete and the rest of the house gets to watch live on screen.

9:48 p.m. – In the BB App Store Kaitlyn is presented with a puzzle of a cartoon version of herself that she must dissemble, push through a small door and reassemble on the other side of the door all within 2 and a half minutes. If she does not complete the puzzle correctly in that time frame she is evicted from the house. It looks fairly simple to complete, flustered Kaitlyn struggles assembling it on the stand and is only able to put it together on the ground. With 30 seconds remaining she begins putting it up on the stand, but ultimately fails to complete it in time!

9:52 p.m. – The was….. the easiest puzzle I’ve ever seen on a show and Kaitlyn couldn’t do it. That’s astounding. She returns downstairs to a round of applause from her housemates, but exits in tears to hug Julie on the outside of the house.

9:57 p.m. – In her interview with Julie, Kaitlyn is okay with leaving because at least it was on her terms (losing the comp). Unfortunately we don’t have much time with Kaitlyn, but Julie does manage to break the news to her that neither Tyler nor Fessy voted to keep her and instead it was JC that was the only vote in her favor.

10:00 p.m. – Sunday night we will see the HOH comp play out as well as who they nominate for eviction. As usual next Wednesday will feature the POV comp and meeting and then another eviction next Thursday.
