Heading into Thursday’s live eviction episode of “Big Brother” Season 20, Brett Robinson had leading 6/5 odds to be sent packing over Rachel Swindler at 12/5 odds. Head of Household Bayleigh Dayton made it clear that she wanted to send home Brett, but was Tyler Crispen able to secure enough votes to keep his buddy in the game? And how did the next Head of Household competition play out?

9:00 p.m. – “Previously on ‘Big Brother’!” In Wednesday’s Veto episode, Tyler showed his physical prowess by winning the pavement puzzle competition by a healthy margin. He considered using the power to save Brett, until Angela Rummans told Tyler about Bayleigh’s power app. Since Bayleigh has the ability to control the nominations next week, Tyler didn’t want to rub her the wrong way, so he chose not to use the Veto. Will Brett or Rachel be voted out? We’ll find out tonight!
9:04 p.m. – Can you believe it’s day 44 in the house? We’ve never seen a game start out and continue so deep into the season with a divided house. I love that it looks like yet again this week the vote will be split with one side of the house blindsided. Bayleigh thinks she’s in control of the house and that everyone will get rid of Brett for her, but Tyler (someone Bayleigh trusts LOL) is set on making sure that Brett stays and that Rachel goes instead.
9:06 p.m. – It’s looking like Rachel’s meltdown over being on the block is turning her own alliance against her. And more than just her alliance, her strongest ally Angela has completely deserted her. Kaycee Clark has worked with both of them as well, but is in agreement with Angela, as well as Tyler, that it’s in Level 6’s best interest to evict Rachel over Brett. As cool as he’s playing it, Brett is keeping it calm, but confessed to Tyler and JC Mounduix that he’s worried he’s definitely going and warns them that the girls are working together to take all the guys out.
9:10 p.m. – Tyler asks Sam Bledsoe who she’s planning to vote out and she vows to do what he wants. For Sam, Tyler seems to be her number one and because she doesn’t care which of the two goes, she is willing to do whatever he says. Tyler has certainly put in major work every week to make sure that what he wants to happen happens. He’s also managed to play the middle successfully–this week the other side of the house (Faysal Shafaat, Haleigh Broucher, Scottie Salton and Rockstar Lantry) thinks Tyler is voting with them to evict Brett.
9:13 p.m. – The news that Bayleigh has one of the power apps has spread to Brett (through Tyler who was told by Angela) who decides he needs to find a way to use it to his advantage. At one point it looks like he’s going to tell Haleigh about it when he chats with her in the hammock, but in reality all that happens is that Fessy gets jealous and is worried that his alliance might have something to worry about in terms of her saving him this week. This could spell disaster for her once Brett stays (because of Tyler!), but it looks like she might actually vote to save him herself anyway?!
9:19 p.m. – As the solid showmance of the season, we step away from the house to hear form Bayleigh’s family and to see Swaggy C greet them for the first time! Bayleigh’s parents are very proud of her accomplishments and speak highly of her talents so I can only assume that they’ll give Swaggy a tough time! Immediately Bayleigh’s parents ask Swaggy what his intentions are and he confesses that he’s actually in love with her. From his perspective, he sees where she gets everything from and meeting them has made him miss her more. It looks like it’s a match made in heaven and that both sides approve of one another. Too bad there isn’t that kind of unity for Bayleigh inside the house!
9:27 p.m. – In her plea to stay, Rachel seems much calmer, as though she thinks she’s staying. Brett, once again, blows the entire house wide open with his time to speak by 1) outing Bayleigh’s power app and 2) calling her the ringleader of an all-girls alliance (a flat out lie). Wowza. That puts the cherry on top of an actually disastrous HOH by Bayleigh that she thought was going perfectly. I’m not sure if Bayleigh had any idea that Rachel told anyone about her app before this, but now the entire house knows and she’s going to have a ton of heat on her next week as many will want to blindside her in order to remove her power from the remainder of the game. And that is to say nothing of the fact that she told Rachel about it, but none of the people in her own alliance!
9:29 p.m. – The houseguests vote to evict, in order: Rockstar evicts Brett, Angela evicts Rachel, Kaycee evicts Rachel, Scottie evicts Brett… leaving it at a 2-2 tie as we break for commercial.
9:34 p.m. – We continue with the votes: Tyler evicts Rachel, Sam evicts Rachel, Fessy evicts Brett, JC evicts Rachel and Haleigh evicts Brett. That seals it–a 5-4 vote against Rachel and her reaction says everything! She storms out of the house and greets Julie in tears! We also got a look of utter shock on the faces of Rockstar and Scottie, a fake look of disbelief from Tyler and a stern look of business from Bayleigh.
9:38 p.m. – Rachel is more blindsided and emotional than anyone I’ve ever seen evicted–she can barely even speak to Julie! When she collects herself, she reiterates that she thought she was a pawn and has no clue who double-crossed her. Sadly, Julie tells her the votes and Rachel is shellshocked that Kaycee and Angela specifically backstabbed her. In the goodbye messages to her (that she told Julie she didn’t even want to see), Haleigh says something really genuine and sweet while Kaycee and especially Angela go for the jugular by telling their former ally that she wasn’t a strong ally. Needless to say, Rachel is pissed!
9:48 p.m. – Prior to tonight’s HOH competition the houseguests were graced with a montage of GIFs on the memory wall, each featuring different houseguests with meme-like tags on them. To determine the next HOH the players will answer a series of true or false questions about the GIFs. Any wrong answer eliminates the player and the last one standing is the winner.
9:50 p.m. – After the first question, only Kaycee is eliminated with her incorrect “False” answer. In the second question, everyone says “False” and they are all correct. Question three proves too tough for JC who gets it wrong with “False.” And question four knocks Sam out. With question five, it’s split–only Rockstar, Haleigh and Angela advance with their “True” answers. And in the sixth question, Haleigh is eliminated with her “True” answer. In the last question, both Rockstar and Angela say “True” and get it right so we go to a tiebreaker!
9:54 p.m. – For the tiebreaker they have to guess, in seconds, how long a previous endurance competition took and the closest without going over will win. Rockstar says 1200 and Angela says 3000. The correct answer is 3722 seconds, making Angela the new Head of Household!
9:58 p.m. – Julie fills us in on the next big twist of the season–the Hacker Comp, where each week one player will win the power to secretly hack the game. Naturally we don’t get to hear how they can hack the game, but we will learn that (and the nominees) on Sunday, followed by another POV on Wednesday and the next live eviction next Thursday. This is going to be a very interesting week!
