‘Big Brother’ 20 episode 27 recap: Who won ‘Sweet Shot’ HOH on August 26 and who’d they nominate for eviction? [UPDATING LIVE BLOG]

When we last left the “Big Brother” 20 house, the remaining players were competing in the “Sweet Shot” Head of Household competition to determine who’d take the all-important HOH key from Faysal Shafaat. As a refresher, Faysal nominated his alliance member Scottie Salton for elimination last week after JC Mounduix manipulated him into thinking that Scottie was in love with his showmance partner Haleigh Broucher. The house ended up voting unanimously to send Scottie to the jury house, but he has a chance to re-enter the game thanks to the Jury Battle Back twist. So who won tonight’s HOH comp and who’d they nominate for eviction?

8:00 p.m. – “Previously on ‘Big Brother’!” In Thursday’s live episode Scottie was evicted by a unanimous 6-0 vote over Kaycee Clark. Kaycee was protected by her Level 6 alliance that includes Tyler Crispen, Angela Rummans and Brett Robinson, as well as honorary members JC and Sam Bledsoe. If any of these six players wins tonight’s HOH then it’s a safe bet they’ll stick together, which means Faysal and Haleigh might be in danger. How will Week 9 play out?

8:12 p.m. – The HOH competition picks back up with the houseguests rummaging around in a bunch of balls searching for tokens. Fessy is still bragging about how much of a boss move it was to evict Scottie, one of the only people who actually had an alliance with him. Fessy is convinced Tyler and Angela are teaming up with himself and Haleigh, but they have no plan to honor that deal. JC isn’t even trying to win the HOH competition tonight because he doesn’t think anyone plans to target him. Angela was hoping Kaycee or Brett would win the HOH competition, but with 15 minutes left in the game, she feels the need to take matters into her own hands. She rolls a score of 39, hoping it will be enough. Although Tyler, Haleigh and Brett each had decent throws, Angela’s score held up and she is the new HOH!

8:20 p.m. – Angela is debating whether or not to honor her deal with Fessy and Haleigh or split them up. Earlier in the week, she had hinted at potentially sending Sam home. In the night’s most awkward moment, Haleigh walks in on Angela, Tyler, Kaycee and Brett celebrating in the bedroom. It looks like Level 6 may have finally blown their cover! Haleigh tells Fessy all about it, but he is absolutely clueless and refuses to believe it. Haleigh is convinced she will be on the block and she knows Tyler and Angela were never on their side. Fessy reassures her that Angela wouldn’t be that stupid, but Haleigh knows what she saw. She predicts she will be sitting on the block next to Sam.

8:30 p.m. – Brett asks Angela if Fessy is the target. The Level 6 alliance wants her to put up Haleigh and Fessy together to ensure one goes home, but Angela is not happy about getting all the blood on her hands. She thinks Sam would be the easier choice. Then Haleigh makes the foolish mistake of offering herself as a pawn for Angela to use. Angela now thinks Haleigh is “just as dumb as her boyfriend.” Haleigh relays the news to Fessy that she’s likely going up as a pawn. Being the superhero he is, he promises to go talk to Angela. Fessy does ramble on and on to Angela who just smiles and nods. She certainly doesn’t need his advice.

8:35 p.m. – Fessy then talks to Tyler and practically begs him not to use Haleigh as a pawn. He then dismisses Haleigh from his conversation with Tyler. She is furious and is not the type of person who will let a man speak for her. She tells Fessy he speaks to Tyler and Angela like they owe her something. He’s frustrated and she asks him, “is this how you are in real life?” They continue to bicker over the bathroom sink as they apply face masks and Haleigh is trying to keep her composure so she doesn’t go nuclear on him.

8:40 p.m. – JC is cooking hot dogs in a speedo. His strategy is to feed the houseguests so everyone likes him. He is terrible at competitions, so if he has another way to keep people on his side, he’ll try it. The food concoctions he comes up with look absolutely disgusting, but these people are eating it up! “Come and get nice and fat my sweeties!” he yells in the Diary Room, referring to his pet “whales” Haleigh, Angela and Kaycee. This guy is hilarious. To be clear, he called them his pet whales to their faces, and they found it comical as well. Meanwhile, Tyler and Angela are headed on a fast track to a showmance. Tyler is trying to keep his mind on the game, but they definitely have a mutual attraction to each other. They spent about five minutes showing them flirt and make out.

8:45 p.m. – Angela tells Tyler she doesn’t want any more blood on her hands. She feels like she always has to save Brett and he does nothing. If she just chooses to target Sam, she could skate through this week with no worries. They discuss the possibility of honoring the Final Four deal with Fessy and Haleigh. Decisions, decisions! Angela hasn’t made up her mind yet about who she wants to nominate.

8:50 p.m. – Brett and JC are hoping people don’t get in Angela’s head. They want Fessy and Haleigh on the block together and believe nominating Sam would be a total waste. JC heads up to talk to Angela and Tyler. He says Sam is not a danger to anyone. He tells Angela he would put up Fessy and Haleigh. He told her he would be willing to vote out Fessy even though they’re friends. I don’t know why they would target him first, Haleigh is the smart one.

8:55 p.m. – Fessy and Haleigh continue their lovers quarrel in the bathroom. The jock is clearly getting on her nerves. Fessy heads up to speak with Angela, who informs him Haleigh will likely be a pawn. She says Sam would go home if she was on the block with Haleigh, while winking into the camera. In the Diary Room Angela says, “Don’t worry Faysal, your girl Haleigh will be just fine. She’ll be sitting on the block right next to you.” She’s ruthless and I love it!

8:59 p.m. – Fessy has been shocked at almost every eviction ceremony, yet still can’t fathom that there could be a powerhouse alliance he’s not part of. Let’s see how this nomination ceremony goes! Angela has nominated Haleigh and Fessy. Queue another shocked look on Fessy’s face. Angela tells them they’re a day late and a dollar short. Them offering her a deal at this point in the game doesn’t help her. Haleigh cries in the Diary Room saying, “it’s not over but it feels pretty close.” Fessy says he feels stupid and should have targeted Angela and Tyler last week. You think so??? That’s a wrap for tonight. Find out who wins the Power of Veto on Wednesday.
