Season 20 of CBS’s reality TV show “Big Brother” debuted last week and the drama has already begun. After Head of Household champ Tyler Crispen nominated Sam Bledsoe (who’s currently serving time as a robot) and Steve Arienta for eviction, Sam’s emotional wires were crossed. She spent much of her time moping around the house until ice cream scooper aficionado JC Mounduix smartly told her to enjoy the game and stop playing the victim. Wednesday’s special 4th of July episode featured the first Veto competition of the season, so did Sam or Steve end up being saved from eviction?

9:08 p.m. – “Previously, on ‘Big Brother’!” On Sunday’s third episode America decided to honor an emotionally distraught Sam with the “Power App” that gave her a bonus life in the game. If Sam or a player of choosing gets booted in one of the first four live evictions, she has the opportunity to save them. The audience simultaneously chose to punish Faysal Shafaat with the “Crap App,” meaning he’ll be getting regular ham deliveries from Hamazon. But since Faysal is Muslim and doesn’t eat pork, we’re curious to see how this punishment plays out!
9:10 p.m. – Once the Power App store closed, people began speculating who was granted power. Sam is choosing not to tell anyone she was the winner unless it can benefit her game. Faysal,on the other hand, wasn’t afraid to let everyone know he was the recipient of the Crap App. To cheer him up, JC snuggles up in bed next to Faysal but this love may go unreciprocated.
9:15 p.m. – Sam all but tells Tyler that she has the power, but refuses to let him know any details. He seems genuinely happy that Sam was the recipient rather than one of his arch rivals. Swaggy Williams is on a power trip of his own, telling Tyler that Angela Rummans should be evicted. Tyler pretends to hear him out, but he is sick and tired of Swaggy thinking he runs the house. Meanwhile, Faysal got his first delivery from “Amazon Swine.” Since he’s Muslim, “Big Brother” has delivered him vegan ham which apparently tastes like rubber. Faysal must eat all of the ham before he can sleep. It takes hours for him to finish, but the deliveries keep coming!
9:20 p.m. – Swaggy tells Bayleigh Dayton that Tyler may put her on the block as a pawn if Sam or Steve come down. Upon hearing the news, Bayleigh remains relatively calm but she completely loses it in the diary room. Will she blow up Swaggy’s game and reveal to Tyler that she knows she’s plan B?
9:25 p.m. – Bayleigh hops back in bed with Swaggy. We officially have the first moping duo of the season and neither of them are even on the block! Swaggy asks Bayleigh if they should detach themselves from each other for the sake of the game. That does NOT make her feel better and further drowns her in sorrow. She decides to go talk to Tyler to try and save her game. Tyler assures Bayleigh she is a pawn but the waterworks continue. Tyler says she’s the safest bet to stay in the house, but she pleads for him to find another option. She asks why Angela isn’t an option. Tyler doesn’t back down, knowing that if she does end up on the block she could definitely be sent home. Bayleigh leaves furious with Tyler and reveals in the Diary Room that he’s a liar.
9:30 p.m. – It’s time to draw names for the Veto competition! Tyler as the HOH along with Sam and Steve as the nominees are guaranteed to play. Tyler draws “houseguest’s choice” and picks Swaggy to play. He knows Swaggy will keep nominations the same and then they can evict Steve. Sam draws Scottie Salton to play. If Scottie wins, he will save Steve. Steve draws “houseguest’s choice” and chooses Faysal, hoping to build trust between them.
9:31 p.m. – Up in the HOH room, Tyler tells Scottie, Steve and Swaggy that Steve will be safe as long as Sam doesn’t win the Veto. He’s completely lying, but they all believe him. Their alliance continues to tell Tyler everything, even though he’s working with the other side of the house. They’re completely oblivious!
9:40 p.m. – It’s time for the Veto competition! The houseguests head to the backyard to “VimeBro Studios.” The game will take place in five stages. The worst player in each challenge will be eliminated, until there is a winner. The first challenge is the “Snake Bite Pit” and there is a trough of real live snakes! Players have to reach into the snake pit to retrieve three “like” icons. The last person to retrieve their “likes” will be eliminated. After five minutes Scottie is eliminated with zero points.
9:45 p.m. – In stage two, players must dive into ice cold waters to retrieve “likes” at the bottom. Swaggy can’t handle the polar plunge and is next to be eliminated. In stage three, players are “human canvases” and must balance on small stools as paint is fired at them. Steve loses his balance and is eliminated next. This could be the end for Steve!
9:55 p.m. – In stage four, players must balance balls on a flat board and walk them to the finish line while being electrically shocked with shock collars on their arms and legs! This looks brutal. The last person to transfer all their balls will be eliminated. Unfortunately for Sam, she has been eliminated from the competition. Before stage five, Faysal tells Tyler he will keep the nominations the same if he wins, but in the Diary Room he confesses he isn’t sure. Tyler decides to throw the final stage and Faysal has won the Power of Veto!
9:59 p.m. – It’s time for the Veto meeting! Faysal wants to pull Steve off so a bigger threat like Angela can go on the block, but he isn’t sure who Tyler would choose. So in the end, Faysal decides to keep nominations the same. Bayleigh can breathe a sigh of relief, but Steve is disappointed. He’s confident he has the numbers to stay, but I highly doubt that. Sam doesn’t want to be forced to use her “bonus life” just yet and plans to get “creative.” I wonder what she will stir up? We will find out tomorrow night on Episode 5 of “Big Brother!”
