The technology theme of “Big Brother 20” has been hit or miss so far — the house design doesn’t really scream “Silicon Valley,” you know, and let’s not get started on those seizure-inducing graphics — but one of the best part of Wednesday’s season premiere was Sam’s punishment. After coming last in the spelling block comp, she now must operate as a robot for a week (which is really two weeks because they moved in on June 20 and the first live eviction is July 5).
The BB20 Powers That Be honestly couldn’t have asked for a better houseguest to become a robot. Based on her interview with Ross Mathews, we had tipped Sam as an early fan favorite and she did not disappoint — she’s charming and personable with an adorable Southern accent that pairs perfectly with the robot’s goofy animated expressions. Because they’re not complete monsters, Sam won’t be a robot the entire time, as she’ll switch between Human Sam and RoboSam at the show’s command. But when she is a robot, where is Human Sam?
Presumably, Sam is just in a room or a booth somewhere, but we haven’t seen it yet. So our plea to production: Show us where Sam is! Where are you hiding her? Is she controlling the robot or is someone else? Can she only see through the robot’s camera? If she has to go to the bathroom, does the robot go the bathroom too? If she becomes HOH, how will the robot go up and down the stairs? So many questions! We need answers!
This all would make for a great fluff package on a live eviction show. And while we’re on that subject, we will riot slash simultaneously die at the sight of her rolling out the house and doing her interview with Julie Chen if she gets evicted as a robot.
