It’s a new year but a familiar Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The top three remain the same as Ed Sheeran and Beyonce hold on to the top spot with their “Perfect” duet for the fourth week in a row. Former number-one hit “Rockstar” by Post Malone and 21 Savage holds steady at number-two. And “Havana” by Camila Cabello and Young Thug remains in third position. But history has been made by Cardi B with three top-10 entries, which matches a feat that has only been achieved by two other artists: The Beatles and Ashanti.
Cardi B’s first three top-10 singles are currently all in the top 10 at the very same time. The Beatles achieved that in 1964 with “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “She Loves You,” and “Please Please Me.” Then Ashanti charted her first three top-10 singles at the same time in 2002: “Foolish,” “What’s Luv?” (with Fat Joe) and “Always on Time” (with Ja Rule).
Just like Ashanti, Cardi B ranks among the top 10 once as a lead artist and twice in collaboration with others. “No Limit” with G Eazy and A$AP Rocky rises one spot to a new peak position at number-four. “MotorSport” with Migos and Nicki Minaj comes in at number-seven. And Cardi B’s number-one hit from last fall, “Bodak Yellow,” moves back up to number-10. On top of that, she’s knocking on the door with yet another single, “Bartier Cardi” with 21 Savage, which debuts at number-14 this week. so there’s a chance she could fill almost half of the top 10 soon.
