Billboard Hot 100: Florida Georgia Line & Bebe Rexha (‘Meant to Be’) rise to new heights, but Drake reigns for week 8

The top three on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart are immovable for yet another week. Drake remains at number-one for an eighth week in a row with “God’s Plan,” followed again by Ed Sheeran (“Perfect”) at number-two and Bruno Mars and Cardi B (“Finesse”) at number-three. But right behind them is a song on the rise: “Meant to Be” by Florida Georgia Line and Bebe Rexha, which rises one spot to number-four. That’s a personal best for both artists.

Before this Rexha’s personal best was, well, last week’s chart when “Meant to Be” was number-five, so this just continues to improve her all-time highest mark. But for Florida Georgia Line this is a milestone they haven’t reached since their debut single “Cruise” peaked at number-four in 2013. This may be especially good timing for the country artists as they’re looking to reclaim Vocal Duo of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards on April 15. Florida Georgia Line and Rexha have already been announced as performers at the 53rd annual event.

Also making gains on this week’s chart is another ACM nominee: Maren Morris. Last week she entered the top-10 for the first-time in her career with “The Middle,” her collaboration with EDM artists Zedd and Grey. This week the song is up two spots from number-eight to number-six. So for Morris it’s another new personal best, while for Zedd it passes his own Grammy winning 2012 song “Clairty” (featuring Foxes), which peaked at number-eight, and his Grammy nominated 2017 song “Stay” (with Alessia Cara), which peaked at number-seven. As it stands Zedd has only charted higher with one single: 2014’s “Break Free” with Ariana Grande.
