Brad Pitt celebrates his 55th birthday on December 18, 2018. The actor his had a quarter-century career beginning mostly as a sex symbol and then on to acclaimed actor and film producer, amassing six Oscar nominations for both acting and producing. He won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Twelve Monkeys” but it was as a producer that he earned two of Hollywood’s major awards: he won an Oscar for “12 Years a Slave” and an Emmy for “The Normal Heart.”
Pitt dropped out the University of Missouri two weeks before he was set to graduate. He had long been obsessed with movies and skipped out on his college final exams in order to move to Los Angeles to try his hand at acting. Not long after his arrival Pitt began earning small roles on television and in film, including a four-episode run on the series “Dallas,” which he has said made him feel like he had made it as an actor. He then landed a key supporting role in “Thelma and Louise,” directed by Ridley Scott. Pitt’s role as a drifter who steals money from Thelma (Geena Davis) and her heart before setting her life towards doom.
