Brian Tyree Henry (‘Atlanta’) Emmy episode revealed for Best Comedy Supporting Actor (Exclusive)

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Brian Tyree Henry is entering the “Atlanta” episode “Woods” as his Emmy submission for Best Comedy Supporting Actor. This installment aired April 19 and was the eighth episode of the second season for the FX show.

In this segment, Paper Boi (Henry) sees the ghost of his mother just before Earn (Donald Glover) calls to check on him. He gets into an argument with his girl friend, gets angry and storms off, gets mugged, gets lost in the wood and meets an old man who taunts him.

Henry was nominated last year for his guest role on “This Is Us” and now has his second career nomination. For the 2018 ceremony, he is up against reigning champ Alec Baldwin (“Saturday Night Live”), past winners Louie Anderson (“Baskets”) and Tony Shalhoub (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), and former nominees Tituss Burgess (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”), Kenan Thompson (“Saturday Night Live”) and Henry Winkler (“Barry”).
