“You are swaggin’ so hard right now, Britton,” swooned Alicia after Britton’s performance. “I don’t know what’s going on but your swag is on 30 million. I love it. You are so unique. If America can join me in recognizing the exponential growth that you have done in merely weeks. It’s unbelievable. You’re 18 years old. Two years from now it’s gonna be like mindblowing. You are so spectacular, Britton. You smashed that.”
Britton’s other performances on “The Voice” so far have included “Trouble,” “Thinking Out Loud,” “New York State of Mind,” “Some Kind of Wonderful,” “Small Town” and “Perfect.” How does “What’s Love Got to Do with It” stack up to his other songs? Let us know down in the comments section. Alicia’s current team consists of Britton, Jackie Foster and Christiana Danielle.
In his recap of “The Voice,” our live-blogger John Benutty noted, “The skill that Britton has is that he can take any song, even something as iconic as this one by someone as iconic as Tina and in his young age still evoke the maturity and history of the song in every moment. I don’t know if it’s his best vocal of the season, but it’s a new side of his artistry.”
