“I was performing in one show and fell down and I tore my ACL,” one of the tumbling brothers of Fratelli Rossi told Simon Cowell during the second audition episode of Season 13. “I had ACL surgery six months ago on my right knee and tonight is my first performance since then,” he continued as the judges looked on in shock. The brothers then performed a dangerous act in which one of them flipped around and around in circles on the other’s legs. Just as he was about to jump up onto his brother’s feet, the flipper took an unexpected tumble and fell down to the floor.
After the near-tragic fall, Mel B saw the brothers talking to each other about possibly redoing the act. “No, don’t, you’re not doing it again,” she declared, fearing for their safety. Howie Mandel chimed in, shouting, “No more! No more!” However, the audience began cheering them on and so Fratelli Rossi started their act over again. This time, things went off without a hitch. Heidi Klum: “I mean, you guys are absolutely incredible.”
Mel B: “I found that absolutely terrifying, but also hot in a weird way. Like, you’re proper men, I like that.”
Howie: “There were a couple mistakes but the only thing we could say is wow. You seem very emotional about it.”
Simon: “Did you see where his brother’s knee went? I’d be crying. Let me tell you something. I think it’s not always right to judge these acts on being technically perfect. The fact that you went wrong and then you did it again actually made the act even better. I was really on the edge of my seat.”

In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty wrote, “Luck was in the air when brothers Ricardo and Alejandro (Fratelli Rossi) brought their tumbling act to the stage. Simon warned them that there had already been a number of accidents earlier in the day, but even despite a recent injury they attempted daring paired spins, tosses, flips and balancing that resulted in yet another accident on stage when one of them fell mid-spin! But that didn’t stop them and in an incredible display of courage they tried again to correct their mistake and succeeded! Happily and proudly all four judges gave them a YES, cheering on their perseverance and determination.”
