Cade Foehner (‘Jungle Love’): ‘American Idol’ Prince night performance causes Katy Perry to feel ‘a little backslid’ [WATCH]

Sunday night during the Prince-themed Top 7 performance episode of “American Idol,” 21-year-old Cade Foehner sang “Jungle Love” for judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. This Shelbyville, Texas resident also took on “Who Will Save Your Soul” by Jewel as his birth year song during Sunday’s two-hour episode. America was so impressed with Cade’s two performances that they sent him through to the Top 5 after voting live coast-to-coast. Do YOU agree with America’s decision? Katy Perry: “Well, I know that you’re a man of God. But honestly, I was feeling a little backslid in watching you. I don’t know what is coming over me. I could be your babysitter. Woo! Woo! Woo! I don’t know what to say, goodbye. My mom’s praying in tongues right now.”

Luke Bryan: “Cade, perfect man, perfect! The guy that we’ve pinned as the rock star just came out here and did Morris Day and The Time in a Prince-written song, made it your own. What Lionel’s been talking about, stylish man. That’s what we’re here to do, to find people like you.”

Lionel Richie: “You gave us instant identity. Even though it was a Prince song, you made it yours, my friend. And having Sheila E standing over your shoulder is not a bad act right there.”

In his “American Idol” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson said, “I am hoping for the best but the first half is paint-by-the-numbers. I’m so happy to see Sheila E jamming behind these contestants on drums though. Cade missed a serious opportunity to absolutely slay on guitar, but it was okay. Katy liked it more than me as she fanned herself off after watching her latest crush perform.”
