“Celebrity Big Brother” season one debuted on CBS Wednesday (Feb. 7) and by the end of the hour, we knew that it was going to be even better than the original show. Yes, “CBB” follows the same format familiar to viewers of the main show, including competitions for both Head of Household and Power of Veto. But host Julie Chen ended the episode with a new element: the right to recast the HoH. To recap, that title had been won by actress Shannon Elizabeth over singer James Maslow in a test of endurance.
The six women, who outnumber the five men, have outsmarted them by forming an alliance in their first week in house. However, that could be in jeopardy if one of the men has won this Right to Recast. Leading the ladies are two reality TV stars: Omarosa of “The Apprentice” fame, who earned safety from eviction, and Brandi Glanville from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
They are teaching Elizabeth and the rest of their team — actresses Keshia Knight Pulliam and Marissa Jaret Winokur and beauty queen Ariadna Gutierrez — how to play the game. At their suggestion, Maslow and one of the other five men — UFC mixed martial artist Chuck Liddell — are Elizabeth’s nominees for the first eviction on Friday (Feb. 9).
However, the women are thinking of swapping singer Mark McGrath for Liddell as he has been a sore loser. While one of the other men, TV personality Ross Mathews, is trying to make peace with the women the other, NBA player Metta World Peace, is keeping a low-profile.
