Nominations for the 9th annual Critics’ Choice TV Awards were announced on Monday, December 10 by the Broadcast Television Journalists Assn. These kudos honor the best of television for the 2018 calendar year, as determined by TV critics, journalists and scribes. Winners will be revealed  on Sunday, January 13, 2019 on the CW network during a ceremony that will also include the 24th Critics’ Choice Film Awards. Scroll down to see the full list of Critics’ Choice TV Awards 2018 nominations and read our full report on the TV contenders.

Awards powerhouses Netflix and HBO lead all networks with 20 nominations apiece, followed by FX with 17, Amazon at 12, and NBC on 11. Topping the list of nominated programs with five bids each are the final season of the FX hit drama series “The Americans” and two limited series: “The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” (FX), and “Escape at Dannemora” (Showtime).

While Hulu’s drama defending champ “The Handmaid’s Tale” was snubbed in that top race, the Amazon comedy series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” defends its title. Eight shows contend in the Best Drama Series and Best Comedy Series categories, up from six at last year’s ceremony.

This year’s crop of contenders features a mix of new shows including  the dramas “Homecoming” and “Killing Eve” and the comedies “Barry” and “The Kominsky Method” as well as departing favorites like “The Americans” and “The Middle.”
