‘Dancing with the Stars’ judges loved Alexis Ren’s trio tango, but she may suffer the same fate as Tinashe next week [WATCH]

Could Alexis Ren be the victim of a shocking early elimination on “Dancing with the Stars”? You wouldn’t think so based on her consistently strong scores, but the ouster of Tinashe on Trios Night showed us that no one can take their spot on the show for granted. Ren performed a tango with her pro partner Alan Bersten and special guest Maddie Ziegler and received one of the night’s better scores, but she’ll be out of luck if viewers don’t vote. What did you think of her routine? Watch it above, and vote in our poll below to let us know if you thought it was the best of the night.

They performed to the fast-paced “Move Your Body” by Sia, for whom Ziegler has often danced. Carrie Ann Inaba was impressed by their moves but wanted to see them all dance “as one” instead of Ren and Ziegler taking turns in hold with Bersten. Len Goodman also thought they could have done better work in hold, though he appreciated how much tango content they packed into the routine. Bruno Tonioli was the biggest fan of the number, praising its “elegance and sophistication.”

The performance received 8s from Inaba and Goodman and a 9 from Tonioli, giving Ren a total of 25 out of 30. That score was certainly impressive, placing her fourth on the judges’ leaderboard — third after Tinashe’s elimination. But Tinashe finished second on the leaderboard on Most Memorable Year Night, and she was still eliminated, so Ren can’t count on her scores alone keeping her in the competition.

We know she’s at risk of low voter turnout because in week one she landed in the bottom five even though she had the 4th highest judges’ score out of 13 contestants. And three of those five contestants are gone already (Nikki Glaser, Danelle Umstead and Nancy McKeon). So let’s hope Tinashe’s elimination was enough of a shock enough to the system to alert everyone’s fanbase to make like the midterms and vote.
