Who will be the biggest surprise on ‘Dancing with the Stars: Athletes’? [POLL]

It happens every season. You peruse the “Dancing with the Stars” cast, make your predictions based on name and reputation, and are proven wrong. There is always someone you underestimated or overestimated — whether it’s their dance ability or fan support or overall appeal, or all of the above — who does better or worse than most people expected. Who will be that person this season?

Our “Dancing” odds have Adam Rippon winning, with Mirai Nagasu and, perhaps most surprisingly, Tonya Harding, next in line to take home the Mirrorball. Harding’s casting has been very divisive, but she does have supporters and she can ride her redemption story. Or maybe folks are banking on figure skaters’ past success on the show? Chris Mazdzer, the first luger on the show, is in fourth place and Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman, looking to be the fifth football player to win, is in fifth place.

SEE Will Chris Mazdzer do as well on ‘Dancing with the Stars: Athletes’ as he did 80 mph on the luge track?

Snowboarder Jamie Anderson is in sixth place, followed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. At 71 and 7-foot-2, Abdul-Jabbar doesn’t exactly scream “ringer,” but he is a beloved legend. Two-time World Series champ Johnny Damon is in eighth, but we all know what happened last time we underestimated a two-time World Series champion (cough, David Ross, cough).

Rounding out the top 10 are former softball pitcher Jennie Finch, the show’s first softball player, and Notre Dame star Arike Ogunbowale. Ogunbowale, of course, is hampered by the NCAA’s restrictions that prevent her from promoting the show. She seems like an easy first cut, but stranger things have happened.

Who do you think will upend everyone’s expectations on “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes”? Vote below!
