In the April 30 season premiere of “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes,” 71-year-old basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was predicted to be one of the first two celebs eliminated from the competition. But even though he got the lowest scores from the judges he had enough support from fans at home to escape the chopping block. Can he do that again with another double elimination looming in week two? If not, who will join him in being sent home from the competition. Some of our users think it will be Tonya Harding despite her impressive performance in week one. (Check out our live blog recapping week two right here.)
Every week Gold Derby users predict who will win “DWTS,” who will be eliminated, and more. And as of this writing Abdul-Jabbar is the likeliest to be sent packing with leading odds of 2/3. He has two chances to rack up points tonight: during his individual dance with pro partner Lindsay Arnold, and during a team dance with fellow celebs Josh Norman, Chris Mazdzer and Harding. But he’s the heavy favorite to get the lowest score again, so if we’re right he’ll need to hope fans like him enough to help him dodge another bullet. That may be tough with two athletes going home each week.
But what about the second elimination? College basketballer Arike Ogunbowale is next in line with 9/2 odds. She was ranked second in our week-one elimination predictions too, but just like Abdul-Jabbar she escaped unscathed. Then comes Harding, ranked third with 8/1 odds of elimination. That’s surprising given that she had one of the highest judges’ scores in the season premiere, but she’s such a divisive contestant that fans may not rally behind her, so if she doesn’t get enough of a buffer from the judges she could be in serious trouble.
