“Dancing with the Stars” completists can breathe a sigh of relief. No, not about no more four-week seasons, but the show has finally revealed the official top three results. Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess finished second, and Tonya Harding and Sasha Farber finished third behind champs Adam Rippon and Jenna Johnson, BBC Studios, which produces the show, confirmed to “Entertainment Tonight.”
“Due to time constraints, we were unable to announce the Mirrorball runners-up during the live show of the ‘Dancing with the Stars: Athletes’ finale,” BBC Studios said in a statement. “The combination of the judges’ scores and America’s votes resulted in football cornerback Josh Norman and his partner Sharna Burgess placing second, and ice skating Olympian Tonya Harding and her partner, Sasha Farber, placing third.”
Unlike past finales, which were typically two hours with third place being announced halfway through, Monday’s finale was only one-hour long, and producers were under a time crunch to wrap on time and not run into the “American Idol” finale. After the three couples performed two dances, the show ended with Tom Bergeron only announcing Rippon as the winner as the credits started rolling, leaving Norman and Harding ostensibly tied for second.
Much like the whole season, it was an abrupt, puzzling end that left fans confused and short-changed, especially those of us who like to keep track of stats and for the “Dancing” Wikipedia page to look symmetrical. Don’t worry, it’s already been updated.
Now will the show release the full results of the season so we don’t have three people tied for fourth place?
