“Keep politicians off ‘DWTS’!” That’s what a whopping 48% of fans said when we asked if fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson should join a future season of ABC’s reality TV show “Dancing with the Stars.” However, the results of our poll weren’t unanimous, as 37% voted “Yes — he’d make for great TV!” The other 15% were non-committal, saying “Let me think about it.” Do YOU think Tillerson should be cast on “DWTS”? Sound off down in the comments section.
President Donald Trump fired Tillerson on Tuesday via tweet, simultaneously announcing that Tillerson’s replacement would be CIA Director Mike Pompeo. Any other presidential firing would be yuuuge news, but America has become desensitized to members of the Trump team leaving following a long line of ousters like economic director Gary Cohn, communications director Hope Hicks, Trump aide Rob Porter, FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, chief strategist Steve Bannon, communications aide Omarosa, etc.
Following her dismissal Omarosa notably entered the “Celebrity Big Brother” house and made it all the way to the season finale. It’s only a matter of time before another ex-staffer from the White House gets cast on a reality TV show, but “Dancing with the Stars” fans hope that it’s NOT Tillerson. Tensions between Tillerson and the president began growing last year when the media reported that Tillerson called his boss a “moron.”
“DWTS” is no stranger to casting political personalities, just ask presidential candidate Rick Perry, who came in 12th place on Season 23. Then there’s majority leader Tom DeLay, who withdrew from the competition in 13th place on Season 9. Even one of Trump’s ex-wives, Marla Maples, got in on the fun; she ended up in 8th place on Season 22.
