Johnson came in second with 26 percent of the vote. The gymnast won Season 8 with Mark Ballas and at 17 was the show’s youngest champion until she was dethroned by Hernandez, who was 16 at the time of her Season 23 victory with Val Chmkerkovskiy. Hernandez received 22 percent of the vote.
“While Meryl Davis was gorgeous and elegant, my favorite female athlete winner was Laurie Hernandez!” user Diane wrote. “It was such a joy watching this adorable little 16-year-old gymnast grow and mature during the competition!”
Yamaguchi, who won Season 6 with Ballas, garnered 19 percent. The first female athlete champ in “Dancing” history, Yamaguchi was one of the show’s most dominant contestants, topping the leaderboard 10 out of 12 times during the season.
