The 27th season of “Dancing with the Stars” is coming up this fall, and the results are in from our recent casting poll, so pay attention casting directors! These are the female celebrities our readers would most like to see on the show for its upcoming 27th season.
Dove Cameron was voted number-one with 40% of readers saying she should join the “DWTS” cast. It’s fitting since she is a Disney kid, having appeared in “Liv and Maddie” and the “Descendants” movies for the Mouse House, and Disney is the parent company of ABC, the network that airs “DWTS.” Multiple Disney stars have done well in the ballroom before, particularly Cameron’s “Liv and Maddie” co-star Jordan Fisher, who won the 25th season just last year.
Actress Lacey Chabert finished second with 15%. This would actually be her return to reality-competition programs after she launched her career on the original “Star Search” in 1991 when she was only eight-years-old. And she has since gained plenty of additional fans from her roles over the years: as Claudia Salinger on “Party of Five” (1994-2000), Eliza Thornberry in the Nickelodeon animated series “The Wild Thornberrys” (1998-2004), and Gretchen Wieners in the 2004 feature film “Mean Girls.”
Paris Hilton was next with 11% of the vote. The hotel heiress is already a reality-TV favorite thanks to her appearances in “The Simple Life” and “My New BFF.” She has gone through a number of other career transitions, including work as an actress and a pop recording artist. We’ve seen a reality TV celeb win “DWTS” before: Melissa Rycroft from “The Bachelor,” who took the Mirror Ball Trophy in the all-star 15th season back in 2012.
Christina Ricci also finished with 11%. She’s started off her career as a child actress in films like “The Addams Family” (1991) and “Casper” (1995) before transitioning into more adult roles in the late 1990s and beyond. She earned a Golden Globe nom for the film “The Opposite of Sex” (1998) and an Emmy nom for a guest appearance on “Grey’s Anatomy” (2006). Now audiences would like to see her tackle ballroom dancing and perhaps add a Mirror Ball Trophy to her list of accomplishments.
Linda Hamilton trailed with 4% of votes. Maybe our readers are underestimating her dance ability. But one should never underestimate Sarah Connor from “The Terminator.” Especially since another veteran actress who made it big in the 1980s, Jennifer Grey, did manage to win the 11th season of “DWTS” back in 2010.
LaToya London finished our poll with support from 3% of readers. She finished in fourth place in the third season of “American Idol” back in 2004, so doesn’t she deserve another chance at becoming a reality-TV champion? After all, it did work out for Kellie Pickler, who lost “American Idol” but did win “DWTS” season 16 in 2013.
