‘Dancing with the Stars’ season 27 poll results: Tony winner John Lloyd Young, ‘N Sync star JC Chasez should compete

Attention casting directors for “Dancing with the Stars”! The results are in from our recent poll: these are the male celebrities audiences would most like to see in the upcoming 27th season from the suggestions we made.

Broadway actor John Lloyd Young was our readers’ top choice with 38% of the vote. After conquering the Great White Way in 2006 with his Tony Award winning breakout role as Frankie Valli in “Jersey Boys” he brought his skills to the small screen with guest appearances on “Glee” in 2009 and “Vegas” in 2013. Then Young was cast by Clint Eastwood to reprise his Broadway role in the 2014 film adaptation of “Jersey Boys.” Another Tony winner, Marissa Jaret Winokur (“Hairspray,” 2003), almost managed to make it to the finals in the sixth season in 2008 (she finished fourth), we’d love to see what another Broadway star could do in the ballroom.

JC Chasez came in second with 28%. Two other members of the boy band ‘N Sync have competed for the Mirror Ball Trophy before, but while neither of them ended up winning they both fared quite well. Joey Fatone finished in second place in the fourth season (2007), and Lance Bass placed third in the seventh season (2008). Now would be a good time for Chasez to represent ‘N Sync yet again on the dance floor.

There was a steep drop-off in our poll results after that. Paul Reubens and Billy Zane tied with 5% of votes. But maybe Pee-wee Herman could surprise us on the dance floor, while Zane could potentially still draw support from the enormous fan base behind “Titanic” (1997), where he played the villainous Cal Hockley.

Regis Philbin was next with 4%. He has plenty of experience hosting reality competition shows such as “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” (1999-2002), “Million Dollar Password” (2008-2009), and the first season of “America’s Got Talent” in 2006. Now a few readers would like to see him actually compete on national television for once.

Kel Mitchell finished last with 3%. He’s been in show business since he was a teenager, and he can currently be seen in the final season of the Nickelodeon sitcom “Game Shakers.” As that door is getting ready to close, maybe the “DWTS” stage door could open for him next.

Another 6% of readers thought all of the above celebrities should be invited to dance on the show, while 11% weren’t interested in any of these stars. Who do you agree with? Check out the complete poll results below.
