It was recently announced that actor Robert Scott Wilson is back on contract with the NBC soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” where he is reprising his role as Ben Weston. But how will the show incorporate him into ongoing storylines? Ben turned out to be the Necktie Killer responsible for multiple murders and for terrorizing the residents of Salem. But even though he wreaked havoc while he was in town most of the fans we polled said they “can’t wait to have him back.” Scroll down to the bottom of this post for the complete poll results.
More than half of our readers (53%) “love” that Wilson is returning to the show full-time. And the producers of “Days” might be equally thrilled since Wilson has turned out to be a good luck charm at the Daytime Emmys. He pushed Abigail Deveraux to her breaking point, which helped Kate Mansi win Best Supporting Actress in 2017. And the episode in which he crashed a double wedding to reveal that one of his victims, Will Horton (Chandler Massey), was really alive helped “Days” win Best Drama Series in 2018. He also made pivotal appearances in the Emmy nominated reels for Massey and Marci Miller, who has played Abigail ever since Mansi left the show in 2016.
And it looks like Ben isn’t through with Abigail just yet. On May 4 Ben Weston appeared in Abigail’s mind to taunt her. Abigail has developed multiple personalities and was trapped inside her own mental prison while one of her alternate personalities, Dr. Laura, was in control of her body. “Give in to the truth. That you are mentally ill, just like me. And you always will be,” he said as she tried to resist his influence over her. Our reader Dennis Valverde predicted, “Robert Scott Wilson will be the best villain ‘DOOL’ will have now.”
Almost another quarter of our respondents (23%) are skeptical, taking a wait-and-see approach to Wilson’s upcoming storylines, while only 21% think it’s a bad idea outright to bring the character back. What do you think? Check out the poll results below.
