Donald Glover (‘Atlanta’) Emmy episode revealed for Best Comedy Actor (Exclusive)

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Donald Glover is entering the “Atlanta” episode “Teddy Perkins” as his Emmy submission for Best Comedy Actor. This installment aired April 5 and was the sixth episode of the second season for the FX show.

In this segment, Darius (Lakeith Stanfield) goes to a mansion to pick up a piano and is visited by strange pale man Teddy Perkins (Glover in this role in addition to Earnest Marks). Teddy exhibits unsettling behavior and claims the piano’s owner is his brother Benny, who is in a wheelchair and unable to be seen. Later, Teddy holds Darius at gunpoint, handcuffs him and reveals his plan to kill him. Benny bursts into the room and kills both Teddy and himself.

Glover won his first two Emmy Awards last year with trophies for this category and for directing. He personally has five more nominations this year for producing, directing, writing and starring on “Atlanta” plus another for guest hosting “Saturday Night Live.” For his acting category in 2018, he faces off with previous winners Ted Danson (“The Good Place”), Larry David (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”), Bill Hader (“Barry”) and William H. Macy (“Shameless”), plus returning nominee Anthony Anderson (“Black-ish”).
