Emily Hough (‘Big Yellow Taxi’) completes Adam Levine’s ‘The Voice’ team after they share love of The Beatles [WATCH]

Monday night during Night 7 of “The Voice” Season 15, pop singer Emily Hough took on Joni Mitchell‘s “Big Yellow Taxi” and caused three coaches to turn their chairs around: Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Jennifer Hudson. The 16-year-old revealed that she comes from a small town where everybody listens to country singers like Blake, but she stands alone by being a pop artist who loves bands like The Beatles. That helped Emily decide to become the final artist on Adam’s team. Watch NBC’s “The Voice” blind audition video above and read the coaches’ comments below.

“You are as A-team as it gets as far as I’m concerned,” Adam told the young pop artist when it was his turn to speak. “You just had this searing, powerful, soulful voice. And also you’re 16. The fact that The Beatles are your favorite band is amazing. It’s unbelievable what you do, Emily. And I have one slot left. You would complete my team.” Adam then agreed with Kelly Clarkson that Emily reminded him of Linda Ronstadt.

As for the other coaches, Blake said that Emily’s voice was “angelic,” but he suspected he didn’t have a shot because of his song “Boys ‘Round Here” where the first lyric was “The boys ’round here don’t listen to The Beatles.” Jennifer argued that she would let Emily “explore” her own artistry and that Adam and Blake were nothing but “bossy” mentors. And Kelly said she didn’t turn around because she’s “just a fan.”

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the performance: “The first artist on the last night of the blind auditions was 16 year old Emily Hough. Although she comes from a small town where everyone listens to country music, Emily is a folksy pop act that took on ‘Big Yellow Taxi’ by Joni Mitchell. Her quirky, lullaby voice sounded good to Adam who turned his chair first, but Blake and Jennifer were also keen to get her on their teams and hit their buttons as well. Adam was the most ecstatic about Emily even before she ended up choosing to be on his team and completing his roster.”
