Emmy predictions: ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ will snatch Best Reality-Competition Program from ‘The Voice’

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” is going to order “The Voice” to sashay away from the Best Reality-Competition Program Emmy if our combined odds are correct. The VH1 series has a 4/11 edge to claim the prize over the three-time defending champion at Monday’s Primetime Emmy Awards.

Be warned: “Drag Race” was the predicted favorite to win last year, but “The Voice” wound up three-peating. However, last year was the first time “Drag Race” cracked the category, and the show doubled its Emmys wins at the Creative Arts Emmys last weekend, adding four more statuettes, including the third straight host win for RuPaul Charles.

And if “Drag Race” does in fact win, this would be the first time that Best Reality-Competition Program and Best Reality Host have gone to the same show in the same year. Talk about making herstory.

Still, you can’t count out “The Voice,” which is looking for its fifth victory overall and has 9/2 odds. As we all know, this category loves repeat winners, and “The Voice” is only the third show to win this award since it was added in 2003, following “The Amazing Race” (10 times) and 2010 champ “Top Chef.”

“The Amazing Race” is in third place with 25/1 odds. The globe-trotting series enjoyed a rejuvenated 30th season, but it hasn’t been to the Emmy stage since 2014.

Tied with 66/1 odds are “American Ninja Warrior” and “Top Chef.” In last place is “Project Runway” (80/1), which has the dubious honor of having the most nominations — this is its 14th bid — without a win in this category.
