“It is time for the Emmys to take notice of ‘Outlander,’ it deserves more nominations!” declares senior editor Rob Licuria, who is joined by contributing writer Amanda Spears to analyze the show’s submissions at the Emmys this year. In our webcam chat (watch the video slugfest above), both Licuria and Spears make a case for where “Outlander” fans can expect potential noms from the TV academy next month. The 2018 Emmy ballot was released last week.
Voting for the 2018 Emmy nominations started on June 11 and lasts until June 25, and the Starz fantasy/romance drama is in the running in a number of categories across the board. We analyze the show’s chances in the big categories, like Best Drama Series and the acting races, particularly for stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, who are submitted in the lead acting races. And we also delve deep into the many possibilities in the creative arts categories, like costumes, production design and cinematography.
“Caitriona Balfe should get a nomination. She’s owed a nomination,” Spears demands. “And invite Sam Heughan! Come on! I think audiences would like to see them up there, even if it is just to present.”
“Yeah, firstly they [both] should be nominated, and if there’s not enough room in the category, can you at least invite them,” Licuria agrees, adding that the show “definitely deserves more than a few measly crumbs in the creative arts categories!”
