Foushee’s ‘outer space voice’ during her ‘Redbone’ cover wows Adam Levine on ‘The Voice’ Season 15 [WATCH]

Tuesday night during Night 4 of “The Voice” Season 15, soul singer Foushee took on Childish Gambino‘s “Redbone” and caused two coaches to turn their chairs around: Adam Levine and Jennifer Hudson. As a regular singer at a blues cafe, Foushee already has tons of experience on a stage, but can she handle being on the stage? After a quick deliberation between Adam and Jennifer, Foushee ultimately decided that Adam should be her mentor. Watch NBC’s “The Voice” blind audition video above and read the coaches’ comments below.

“What I loved the most about you was I couldn’t figure you out,” Adam told Foushee before she chose to join his team. “It’s almost like outer space voice. Everything about you: voice, vibe, style, look. There is something about you that transcends just the technical and I wanna be a part of it.”

When Jennifer was informed that Foushee hit B above high C, she responded, “For those who don’t really know music, that’s almost off the piano. Don’t nobody walk around hitting those type of notes. When I try, nothin’ come out. You have such a unique sound. It took me on a journey to be so interesting. I couldn’t tell if it was a young boy’s voice or a girl’s voice. And that’s what this show is about. I think you’re rare and amazing.”

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about the performance: “The second artist tonight is Foushee, a cafe singer who performs on a stage once graced by Jimmy Hendrix and Bob Dylan. Her mother performed in a Jamaican band and was the victim of a devastating car accident that left her learning to walk again. Foushee is singing ‘Redbone’ by Childish Gambino which shows off a unique artistry and separates her from the crowd. Jennifer is first to turn for the soul singer and Adam quickly hits his butter upon hearing her strong whistle register. Kelly and Blake look impressed, but did not turn around. Foushee has a lot of stage presence and it’s clear she knows how to work a stage. Jennifer loves her sound and said it took her on a journey. She couldn’t tell if Foushee was a woman or a young boy. Adam says she transcends the technical and he wants to be a part of it. In the end, Foushee’ chose Team Adam.”
