Projection artists Front Pictures earn wild card slot in ‘America’s Got Talent’ live shows after being MIA in Judge Cuts

During Thursday’s special “Road to the Lives” episode of NBC’s reality TV show “America’s Got Talent,” the projection artists known as Front Pictures earned a coveted wild card slot in the upcoming live shows. Their original audition (watch it here) impressed “AGT” judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel so much that all four gave the act unanimous “yes” votes. However, for reasons unexplained, Front Pictures did not appear in the subsequent Judge Cuts rounds. Luckily the judges have decided to give the projectionists another shot as they now number among the Top 36 acts of Season 13. The live Quarterfinals begin Tuesday, August 14 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Back in their first appearance our white-clothed hero entered a virtual world, choosing his desired location (forest) and an avatar (wolf) before taking off on a three-minute computerized adventure. Following the performance Mel praised, “You crammed so much into that. I loved it.” Heidi and Howie echoed her raves, admitting that they’d never seen an act like that before. And Simon said the P-word — “perfection” — when giving Front Pictures the good news that they’d be coming back in the next round.

When they originally auditioned on June 12, our “AGT” recapper John Benutty wrote in his live blog, “Based on an interest in technology, the duo of Front Pictures created a virtual reality act that ‘shows the dangers of technology taking over the world.’ They used the screen, suspension cables and the stage to create an environment resembling a video game where they moved through a virtual world of neon colors by running, flying, falling, snowboarding and swimming. The judges were in awe throughout, eating every second of the show up, making it an easy decision to send them through to the next round unanimously.”
