‘Good Omens’ teaser: David Tennant and Michael Sheen team up to stop the apocalypse [WATCH]

Amazon touted its new series “Good Omens” to fans at New York Comic Con 2018. That included a teaser trailer for the supernatural drama, which stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen as a demon an angel, respectively, who team up to prevent the apocalypse. Watch the teaser above.

“Good Omens” is based on the 1990 fantasy novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. It follows Crowley (Tennant) and Aziraphale (Sheen), who have known each other since the dawn of time. They have settled into life on Earth, so they fight stop the rise of the antichrist in order to prevent the final battle between heaven and hell. “It won’t be the war to end all wars,” says Crowley. “It will be the war to end everything.”

“Well then, welcome to the end times,” says Aziraphale.

This isn’t the first time Neil Gaiman has been adapted. His book “Coraline” was made into an Oscar-nominated stop-motion animated film in 2009. And his novel “American Gods” has been adapted into a drama series on Starz, whose first season aired in 2017 and whose second season lands in 2019 after a long hiatus. Gaiman himself wrote the scripts for the six-episode “Omens,” though unfortunately his co-writer Pratchett isn’t alive to see it: the famed author died in 2015 at age 66.

“Terry and I wrote a novel together a long time ago,” Gaiman told IMDb at Comic Con. “We wanted to get it made as a movie. Lots of people wanted to do it … but it never quite worked.” However, the golden age of TV opened up a new opportunity on the small screen with streaming service Amazon, which will premiere the show in 2019. Its all-star cast also features Jon Hamm as Archangel Gabriel and Miranda Richardson as courtesan and medium Madame Tracy.
