Bro! Hawaiian singer Tyke James just joined Team Adam Levine on ‘The Voice’ after ‘Perfect’ blind audition [WATCH]

Monday night during the Season 15 premiere of NBC’s “The Voice,” Hawaiian singer Tyke James performed Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” and earned a spot on Team Adam Levine. Adam was actually the only coach to turn his chair around for the long-haired 17-year-old who was fond of calling people “Bro,” so he became the first member of Adam’s Season 15 roster. “Yes!” Adam shouted after he found out he was the only coach to turn for Tyke. “They should have turned around, but thank God they didn’t. All right, buddy. Look, I loved your voice. It’s hard to explain when you get that adrenaline rush. I turned around and you’re clearly a freakin’ stud. I just saw your future and it seems like you’re someone that everyone’s gonna fall in love with. Just your aura was so cool.”

Kelly Clarkson complimented Tyke’s long blonde hair, and he responded by saying he loved hers, too. Adam again brought up the fact that he discovered a star all by himself since Kelly, Jennifer Hudson and Blake Shelton all sat out the round. “You could win this thing kind of like in your sleep,” Adam told Tyke. “You have an extremely modern voice but it’s classic and old school as well. Bro, get ready for a ride. We’re gonna have such a blast.”

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the performance: “Tyke James from Hawaii was next to take the stage, a far cry away from the taco trucks he performs in front of on the island. Tonight he sang Ed Sheeran‘s ‘Perfect’ while playing his guitar. Adam, who seems to be playing it very picky again this season, was the first and only to turn his chair for Tyke. With that result, for the third straight time an artist joined the team of the coach most closely related to their own style of music. I’m a little surprised none of the other judges were compelled to turn for Tyke’s soft, singer-songwriter vibe. Kelly said that she was waiting for him to ‘go somewhere else,’ but maybe he’ll show different sides of his voice in future rounds!”
