‘Hot Summer Nights’ trailer: Timothee Chalamet breaks bad in his followup to ‘Call Me by Your Name’ [WATCH]

Things didn’t work out with Oliver in “Call Me by Your Name,” so now Elio is slinging dope. At least, that’s what Timothee Chalamet is doing in his followup to his Oscar nominated performance. On April 12 A24 has released a new trailer for “Hot Summer Nights,” which stars Chalamet as Daniel, who spends the summer in Cape Cod and finds himself embroiled in the local drug trade. Watch the trailer above.

“Sending me away for the summer, what a cliche,” says Daniel to his mother at the opening of the trailer. The shy young man appears to be a fish out of water in his summer locale until he impulsively agrees to hide drugs for Hunter (Alex Roe) and then starts dealing drugs for him. Daniel also develops an interest in Hunter’s sister McKayla (Maika Monroe).

This film is the writing and directing debut of filmmaker Elijah Bynum, And it will be the first film for Chalamet since he made history at the Oscars. At age 22 he became the third youngest Best Actor nominee in history for playing a lovelorn teenager who falls in love with his father’s grad student (Armie Hammer) in “Call Me by Your Name.” But that wasn’t the only breakthrough for Chalamet. The young actor also had prominent roles in another Oscar nominated film, “Lady Bird,” as well as in the dark western “Hostiles.”

“Hot Summer Nights” will be available on DirecTV on June 28, followed by a theatrical release on July 27. And later in the year Chalamet will also appear in “Beautiful Boy” as a meth addict, opposite Steve Carell as his father. Are you excited to see more of Chalamet after his recent star-making performances?
