Simon Cowell makes Hunter Price sing twice on ‘America’s Got Talent’

Simon Cowell says that he is not really all that mean, it is just an image he got saddled with on the original “American Idol.” He certainly proved he had a heart on the July 10 episode of “America’s Got Talent” when Hunter Price came out to audition. The soft-spoken singer from Georgia planned to accompany himself on guitar while he sang the Bryan Adams hit “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You.”

He had barely begun the song when Cowell curtailed the audition. He said that this rendition was too reminiscent of karaoke and he wanted to hear an original version of Price and not a pale imitation of another singer. That critique inspired Price to take a chance and sing an original song, “Left Behind.” The tune showcased his country music stylings to much better effect and soon had the audience on its feet.
