Monday night on “The Voice,” country singer Jackie Verna represented Team Adam Levine during the live Top 11 episode of Season 14. America’s song choice for Jackie was Deana Carter‘s “Strawberry Wine,” which she thought was a great idea as it brought her back to her country roots after last week’s pop song. Adam raved about his country singer, stating, “Jackie, honestly, you’re more dynamic and better and your tone is richer and more developed every show. I believe that you’re not just one of the best country singers on this show we have right now, but I think you’re one of the best singers. You do it so classy. Today was honest to God flawless in a soulful and simple and pure way that is so hard to find these days. You are one of my favorites, and I hope that is the same opinion of everybody at home.”
Jackie’s other performances on “The Voice” so far have included “Peter Pan,” “These Dreams,” “American Honey,” “Tim McGraw,” “Once” and “I’m With You.” How does “Strawberry Wine” stack up to her other songs? Let us know down in the comments section.
In his recap of “The Voice,” our live-blogger John Benutty wrote, “I was not a huge fan of Jackie’s take on Avril Lavigne last week, but she has completely turned the corner for me this week. Her voice sits so perfectly within a country lyric and with this song the tenderness shines through. I think there was a dynamism to the fluctuations of her pitch and a richness to her tone that I hadn’t noticed before. In my opinion, she took a huge step forward this week!”
