Jason Bateman (‘Ozark’) Emmy episode revealed for Best Drama Actor (Exclusive)

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Jason Bateman is entering the “Ozark” episode “The Toll” as his Emmy submission for Best Drama Actor. This installment streamed July 21 and was the 10th and final episode of the first season for the Netflix show.

In this segment, many threats are hanging over Marty (Bateman) and his family. He wants to pack up his wife Wendy (Laura Linney) and the kids to leave town immediately. He visits Jacob and proposes to be his only customer and launder the profits. Later he switches that idea and suggest the Cartel as the only buyer. After an agreement, things take an ugly turn so Marty flees and is stopped by a police blockade. He reluctantly returns home and his family joins him there.

Bateman is also nominated for directing this same episode, bringing his career total to four bids (with two others for the comedy “Arrested Development”). For the 2018 ceremony, he faces off against reigning champ Sterling K. Brown and his “This Is Us” co-star Milo Ventimiglia. The other contenders are “Westworld” co-stars Ed Harris and Jeffrey Wright plus previous nominee Matthew Rhys (“The Americans”).
