It has been three weeks since Jeffrey Lin stole the show on “America’s Got Talent.” On the June 19 audition episode, the Canadian schoolboy rocked the house with the power ballad “You Raise Me Up.” He’d won over head judge Simon Cowell even before he sang this Josh Groban hit when he said that he’d use some of his prize money to buy a dog. Hearing this, the crusty Cowell broke into a big smile as he loves animals more than people and promised Li that he’d get him a puppy.
Lin has emerged as one of the frontrunners to win season 13 of “AGT.” So, when will we see him sing again in this competition to win a million dollars and a chance to headline a Las Vegas show? He will back on your screens sometime in the coming month as the show shifts to the judges cuts stage.
The four episodes showcasing the judges cuts begin on July 17. Each episode includes a guest judge who gets a Golden Buzzer too. By the end of this phase of the competition, the judges will have chosen 24 acts to move on to the live shows. The producers will add three wildcards to compete for America’s votes.
The live shows start on August 14. There will be three weeks of these quarterfinals. Each week, 12 acts will perform on the Tuesday episode with seven finding out that they made it through to the semi-finals on the Wednesday results show.
The semi-finals go live on September 4, 5, 11 and 12. Along with the 21 acts put through in the quarter-finals there will be one more wildcard. Each week, 11 acts will perform with five making it to the finals. The two-part final will air live on September 18 and 19. On the last night, the top five will be revealed before a countdown to the ultimate winner. Besides bragging rights, the champion act gets $1 million and a a chance to headline at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
