Jennifer Hudson returns to ‘The Voice’ joining Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine as season 15 coaches

Get ready for a battle of “American Idol” alumni on this fall’s edition of “The Voice.” The NBC reality competition series confirmed that Jennifer Hudson, who finished in seventh on “Idol” back in 2004, will be returning to the panel for the 15th season of this Emmy winner. She will join the original 2002 “Idol” champ Kelly Clarkson, who debuted as a coach on the current season of “The Voice,” as well as both Blake Shelton and Adam Levine who have been with the show from the start.

Hudson was unlucky in her debut as a coach on “The Voice” in season 13 last fall, just missing out on a place in the final. As of this writing, Clarkson still has two artists in the Top 8: Brynn Cartelli and Kaleb Lee. Both women have said that their experiences on “Idol” makes them better mentors than Shelton or Levine.

But it is Shelton, a country music superstar, who has the best record as a a coach, with a whopping six wins. He has three artists still in contention this season: Pryor Baird, Spensha Baker and Kyla Jade. Levine is unlikely to get his long-awaited fourth win as he has only one artist still in the hunt for the season 14 title: Rayshun LaMarr.

POLL ‘The Voice’: Where do Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson rank among all 12 coaches to date?

The fourth coach on season 14 of “The Voice” is Alicia Keys. This Grammy winner is one for two on “The Voice” and she still has two artists in the race this year: Britton Buchanan and Jackie Foster.
