Jensen wanted to steal the spotlight from Genessy during this ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Broadway number [WATCH]

This season on “So You Think You Can DanceJensen Arnold has emerged as a strong and confident breakout star while Genessy Castillo has had to gradually build her confidence over time. So their duet on Top 4 night was a bit of a role reversal. Choreographer Travis Wall put together a Broadway routine to Liza Minnelli‘s “Maybe This Time” that cast Castillo as the star and Arnold as the jealous rival waiting in the wings. Watch the performance above.

“The most difficult part about this routine is committing to that character,” Castillo admitted. “I’ve been that girl in the back that’s wanted to be the star on the stage. But the more this journey goes on I feel confident and can see myself being able to be that star.” And the judges could see it too. Vanessa Hudgens thought it was a “brilliant” piece of choreography and Castillo is a bona fide “star.” Twitch loved seeing “two leading ladies take absolute control of the stage,” and it was his favorite performance from Arnold this entire season.

Mary Murphy told Castillo, “Every little moment you just seemed to be on-point. You’re having a peak night tonight,” and she thought Jensen “annihilated” this character as she has done for every character she’s played up on that stage this season. And Nigel Lythgoe thought it was a “genius” concept, and “I think the pair of you performed it exactly how Travis would have wanted it.”

So what did you think about their performance? And how will Top 4 night influence the final results when America picks its winner.
