“I was fairly certain that it was gonna be [Lyrsa Torres eliminated], until we got to tribal and we started having those conversations,” reveals Jessica Peet, the latest castoff from “Survivor: David vs. Goliath.” “That’s whenever I realized, uh, things might not be going in my favor all the way.” Jessica ended up being blindsided during Season 37, Episode 2 by a narrow 5-4 vote over Lyrsa after Nick Wilson, Gabby Pascuzzi, Elizabeth Olson, Christian Hubicki and Lyrsa all turned on her. Listen to our “Survivor” exit interview above.
After Jeff Probst snuffed her torch Jessica confessed that she had simply trusted the wrong people, but who specifically does she point the finger at? “I feel betrayed by Nick and Gabby,” she reveals. “I had a good relationship with Gabby. I understand where she was coming from with saying that I wasn’t really giving her enough. I wish that I would have known that so I could have reassured her and let her know that I was really going to vote for Lyrsa.”
Jessica continues, “And then Nick I was completely thrown off by. It didn’t really highlight this but Nick and I had a good relationship and I trusted Nick, so for Nick to vote me out was really hard. I actually looked back at him after the vote and he gave me this little soft smile and shook his head yes, like ‘I voted for you.’ And I was so enraged. I was so mad. But it’s okay now. It’s all just a game.”
As someone whose “relationship with Christ is very important to me,” Jessica admits that she got a kick out of this season’s “David vs. Goliath” theme. “I love that I get to be a part of the first biblical theme of ‘Survivor,'” she explains. “I do think it was a little unmatched. [The Goliaths] had a lot of muscle strength. I don’t think it was necessarily as fair as I would have liked it to be. But in the end both tribes tried to make the most out of what they had.”
Also in our “Survivor” podcast, Jessica tells us what it was like watching Pat Cusack being medically evacuated last week, how much she searched the island for a hidden immunity idol, what the endless rain did for her morale, and how difficult it was trying to assemble the block puzzle challenge.
