Joseph Fiennes (‘The Handmaid’s Tale’) Emmy episode revealed for Best Drama Supporting Actor (Exclusive)

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Joseph Fiennes is entering “The Handmaid’s Tale” episode “First Blood” as his Emmy submission for Best Drama Supporting Actor. This installment streamed May 23 and was the sixth episode of the second season for the Hulu show.

In this segment, Commander Fred Waterford (Fiennes) has a secret visit with Offred (Elisabeth Moss) but she refuses to have sex with him. The Commander oversees the construction ceremony for a new Red Center. Enjoy our recent video chat with Fiennes discussing this season and his career.

Fiennes is a first-time Emmy nominee as Best Drama Supporting Actor. For this 2018 ceremony, he is up against two-time champ Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”), previous winner Mandy Patinkin (“Homeland”), returning nominee David Harbour (“Stranger Things”) and rookie contenders Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (“Game of Thrones”) and Matt Smith (“The Crown”).
