Football player Josh Normaan thought of himself as the underdog in the “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” finale against figure skaters Adam Rippon and Tonya Harding, but maybe they should have been intimidated by him instead. After all, NFL stars have had a much stronger track record on the reality competition series than figure skaters. Norman pulled out all the stops with his freestyle routine with pro partner Sharna Burgess and earned perfect 10s from the entire panel of judges. He may not have won the Mirror Ball Trophy — Rippon claimed the title — but don’t ever call a football player a “DWTS” underdog.
What did you think of Norman’s performance. Watch it above and see what the judges had to say about it below. Then vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know if the right person won season 26 of “DWTS.”
Bruno Tonioli: “Josh, you’re wet, and a lot of people are very, very hot … That really was such a strong performance: heroic, powerful, solid as a rock. But what you were was the leader of the pack, master and commander of the situation. You knew who was the boss in that dance: you were.”
Carrie Ann Inaba: “Sharna, that was maybe the most incredible piece of choreography you have ever done. It was so powerful and so fitting. The freestyle is a chance to show us who you are that we haven’t seen so far. That season there’s so much to show because there’s only four weeks. What I love is that I saw a champion out there, no doubt.”
Len Goodman: “There’s no way you’re the underdog in this final, trust me. I tell you, I’ve had so much fun tonight, and this was just great. I loved the whole drama of it, the power that you put in, the lifts were brilliant. Then you got soaking wet, which made me chortle as well”
