Everyone’s awed and inspired by Juan Pablo Di Pace as Gaston on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ for Disney Night [WATCH]

No one’s slick as Juan Pablo, no one’s quick as Juan Pablo, for there’s no man in town half as manly. On “Dancing with the Stars” for Disney Night, “Fuller House” actor Juan Pablo Di Pace performed a Viennese waltz to “Gaston” from “Beauty and the Beast,” and it’s hard to imagine more ideal casting for the role. The musical theater vet hammed it up playfully when he was in character, even during training when he couldn’t resist trying on Gaston’s signature pony tail. What did you think of his waltz? Watch it above.

Di Pace had a lot to live up to. In week three he got the season’s first perfect score of 30, and he and his pro partner Cheryl Burke wondered if it was too early for that — there’s nowhere to go from there but down. Indeed, in week four for Trios Night they tumbled six points to a total of 24 out of 30, but Di Pace was actually relieved because it gave them room to keep growing.

True to the lyrics of the song, “everyone’s awed and inspired by” Di Pace’s performance. The full-blown production number was “spot-on on every level,” according to judge Bruno Tonioli. Carrie Ann Inaba thought he had “flair for days” and that “every detail is perfect.” And Len Goodman felt the routine was “full of gusto and zest.” Even though Di Pace was just the second performer of the night, the judges didn’t hold back with their scores. He got a 9 from Goodman and 10s from Inaba and Tonioli, giving him a total of 29 out of 30.

So it wasn’t quite perfection, but it was good enough to tie him with Alexis Ren for the top of the judges’ leaderboard. And it proved that his first perfect score wasn’t a fluke. Did you agree with his marks? Vote in our poll below to let us know who you thought gave the best performance of the night.
