Wednesday night on “The Voice,” country singer Kaleb Lee represented Team Kelly Clarkson during the third live playoff episode of Season 14. Kaleb’s performance of Thomas Rhett‘s “Die a Happy Man” earned him a spot in next week’s Top 12 thanks to America’s instant vote. He joined Kelly’s other two team members that made the finals: D.R. King and Brynn Cartelli. Are YOU happy that Kaleb advanced to the next round? Watch “The Voice” performance video above.
“I love my team!” Kelly repeated while doing a little dance after Kaleb’s performance. “I’m loving his energy. I love you, Kaleb. I’m so excited. Please, I just wanna take the time. I learned a lesson from Alicia Keys last night. I’m talking to you, America. Please vote for Kaleb, he is so ridiculously talented.”
Fellow coach and country superstar Blake Shelton pretended to be offended when Kelly named Kaleb “the best country singer on this show.” She added, “I think he’s just a solid country singer. I mean, that sexy hat, the Johnny Cash black, I love you. I think it’s so good!” Kelly got her wish, as minutes later America’s vote sent Kaleb through to the next round.
In his recap of “The Voice,” our live-blogger Denton Davidson summarized, “Kaleb has solid pipes but he’s lacking the charisma former country standouts have had from the country genre. Kelly looks absolutely thrilled with his performance, but no other coaches stood up to applaud. I’m not sure he will be voted through based on that, but he’s definitely an option for Kelly to save.”
