Kate McKinnon (‘Saturday Night Live’) Emmy episode revealed for Best Comedy Supporting Actress (Exclusive)

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Kate McKinnon is entering the “Saturday Night Live” episode hosted by Bill Hader as her Emmy submission for Best Comedy Supporting Actress. This installment aired March 17 and was the 16th episode of the 43rd season for the NBC show.

In this show, McKinnon appears in the cold open as Attorney General Jeff Sessions, in “The Californians” as a maid, in an Irish dating show sketch and on “Weekend Update” as Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

McKinnon has prevailed in this category the past two years and now has her sixth career nomination. For the 2018 ceremony, she faces off with two “SNL” co-stars, Aidy Bryant and Leslie Jones. Other ladies competing are previous winners Laurie Metcalf (“Roseanne”) and Megan Mullally (“Will and Grace”), past nominee Alex Borstein (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), plus first-time contenders Zazie Beetz (“Atlanta”) and Betty Gilpin (“GLOW”).
